Over the past decade, I’ve made it a real priority to have a routine. It’s helped me through so much; building multiple businesses online, studying for exams, kids, and so much more.
I never realized that I was such a routine, organized person until a few weeks ago when I noticed work/life balance was thriving.
If you don’t know; my husband and I started a cleaning business in February. It took off, I went from cleaning five homes biweekly by myself, to cleaning 10 plus homes per week with my husband. On top of that, we take both boys with us (unless we plan for a sitter), and my husband has other duties he tends to as well. I also have an online personal training business, and I am partnered with a wellness inspired store that I help people shop with. So you can say we are very busy all the time.
So being on top of my game is a priority. Taking lunches and snacks for us during the day while we clean. Planning around nap time when we get home, dinners, cleaning up, etc. I also make sure I am taking care of myself, daily, for some self care. Each day that is working out and listening to an audiobook for my mental health.
Not all days are perfect and go as planned, but that is to be expected. I’m going to share some dos and don’ts if you are struggling to maintain a routine at home with your littles. This can be beneficial if you work from home, out of the home, or just home.
Do:
Write out your tasks of the week. Typically Sunday or Monday morning I will plan out the week; where we are cleaning, my goals for my businesses, to do list for businesses, doctor appointments, etc.
Don’t: try to wing it. Usually it ends up in something going wrong and being unintentional about the day.
Do: when approaching tasks throughout the day; focus on one task at a time. I heard in a book that multitasking is the art of doing twice as much as you should.. or something like that. ONE task at a time.
Don’t: try to do it all at once. This is a way to get all types of flustered or overwhelmed, or perhaps, if you’re like me. Both!
I’ll leave you with just a few of the do’s and don’ts. I don’t want to overwhelm you or have you try to change all the things in your life at once.
One last thing. I challenge you this week to focus on one task at a time. Whether that’s filing paperwork or cleaning the bathroom.
Book recommendation for this week. Be Your Future Self Now. Honestly, this was such a good book. Highly recommend it if you feel stuck in your business or life.
